Kansas City

Kansas City is famous for far more than just barbecue, though its slow-smoked ribs and burnt ends are legendary worldwide. One fun fact is that Kansas City has more fountains than any city in the world except Rome, earning it the nickname “The City of Fountains.” Jazz history also runs deep here, with the 18th & Vine District once serving as a major hub for legendary musicians during the early 20th century. Kansas City straddles two states—Missouri and Kansas—which often surprises visitors who assume it’s located entirely in one. The city is also home to the National WWI Museum and Memorial, the only museum in the U.S. dedicated solely to World War I. Sports fans proudly support the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals, both of which have brought championship glory to the city. Kansas City’s underground tunnel system, SubTropolis, is one of the largest underground business complexes in the world. With a growing arts scene, creative murals, and a reputation for friendliness, Kansas City blends Midwestern charm with unexpected cultural depth.
