Louisville

Louisville is best known as the home of the Kentucky Derby, the longest-running sporting event in the United States held at the same venue. One fun fact is that the city goes all out for Derby season, with festivals, parades, and traditions like the famous mint julep. Louisville sits along the Ohio River and has historically served as a major transportation and shipping hub. The city is also deeply connected to bourbon culture, with the Urban Bourbon Trail showcasing dozens of distilleries and bourbon-themed bars. Louisville’s name is pronounced “Loo-uh-vul” by locals, which surprises many visitors. The city boasts an extensive park system designed in part by Frederick Law Olmsted, the same landscape architect behind Central Park. Louisville blends Southern charm, Midwestern practicality, and a growing arts and food scene that continues to attract new residents.
