How to Handle Creative Jealousy as a Photographer or Videographer

Coming to you from Sean Tucker, this video examines an emotion I'm sure all of us have felt from time to time. It's very easy (particularly in a field that marries creativity with one's financial success) to fall into the trap of comparison with your peers, but that's almost always a fool's errand. As Tucker breaks down, it's not unusual to feel those things, but it's important that we become introspective and figure out what's really causing those emotions, because the majority of the time, the only real race is with yourself.

FORTY YEARS LATER, ‘CLOSE ENCOUNTERS’ REMAINS A UNIQUE FILM EXPERIENCE

Something funny happened as I geared up to rewatch it earlier this month: Two friends I asked to join me had never seen it, and my personal trainer barely even knew what I was talking about. Sure, all those people are five to 15 years younger than me, but they still crack Jaws jokes when they go in the water. They still hum the Raiders theme any time they swing from a rope. They all probably cried when it looked like E.T. was gonna die. How had Close Encounters—one of the highest-grossing movies of its era—escaped their radars?

How Latin American Directors Are Changing What We Expect From Latino Immigrant Stories

Matías Piñeiro‘s Hermia & Helena is a curious film. A playful adaptation of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream set in modern-day New York City, it is also a meditation on what it means to be away from home in one of the most exciting cities in the world. The romantic comedy of twinned identities captures Piñeiro’s own experience visiting the U.S. on an arts fellowship. Camila (Agustina Muñoz) arrives in New York after her friend Carmen (Maria Villar) suggests she attend the same creative residency program.

Videographer Jeremiah Davis Shares Stories From The Chainsmokers' Asia Tour, From Rooftops to Typhoons

At just 23 years old, Davis has been part of The Chainsmokers team in some capacity since producing drone footage for the duo’s record-breaking “Closer” lyric video, which he shot in May 2016 (since its release in July 2016, the clip has become the most-viewed lyric video on YouTube, surpassing the 1 billion mark). Davis’ role has allowed him to get to know Alex Pall and Drew Taggart personally, motivating him to portray them as the hardworking, kind men he works with on a daily basis to those who can only judge them from afar as two EDM dudes jumping around onstage.

Lizzo’s New Video Puts a Statement-Making Spin on Wedding Style

And while Lizzo now joins the long line of artists who have made music videos with a nuptial motif, lines like “I put the ‘sing’ in single/Ain’t worried about a ring on my finger” make it clear that the real theme is independence. And when the video ends with Lizzo marrying herself and then dancing with all of her friends, her self-love becomes contagious.
